Here's a thing nobody warned me about when I started writing fiction after retirement. . .
49th: Mrs Pargeter’s Package sees the 67 year old widow off on holiday to Corfu with a grieving friend. When the friend dies mysteriously a possible suicide, Mrs Pargeter becomes suspicious and seeks justice for the friend. A entertaining read. #books #cozymystery
#WritersCoffeeClub 20 April 2025: What role does #Religion play in your #Writing ?
Religion or #faith plays a significant but subtle role in my #RallyRhoades series. These are #cozymystery stories ( #feminist take on #NeroWolfe meets #TrixieBelden ) are set at an #Episcopal #BoardingSchool
In other words, the rituals & tradition of an Episcopal school provide the daily rhythms & moral foundations of the stories. They are discussed & noted but not always in great detail. They definitely color the lens through which I, & the characters, see the world of the #TyndaleAcademies however, I don’t think readers need to be intimately aware of or even familiar with their nuances in order to enjoy or understand the stories (just like you don’t have to be a gourmand to appreciate the Nero Wolfe stories).
When I began writing these, I was emphatic that I wanted an Episcopal boarding school & flavor although I am still not sure why other than for authenticity (it’s my personal background).
47: Mrs. Presumed Dead explores a possible crooked church and dangers of yuppie culture when Mrs. Pargeter moves into Smithy Loam only to learn that the previous owners of her house mysteriously disappeared which sends her into action using her wit and resources to learn the truth. #books #cozymystery
44th: A Nice Class of Corpse published in 1986 introduces the 67 year old widow Mrs. Pargeter who upon moving into a hotel that caters to wealthy retirees finds herself embroiled in two mysterious deaths and jewel robberies. Delightful example of early cozy mystery. #books #cozymystery
This is the set I bought for my writer wife Christina York's (Aka, Christy Fifield, Christy Evans) writing office. Her office is pink with white trim, so this is perfect.

ICYM: I review A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennet. Maybe even better than the first book in the Shadow of the Leviathan fantasy mystery series.

In this election cycle I happen to be very concerned about the high rate of crime in Father Brown's village. #BritBox #CozyMystery

Sorry, #AI, human editors still matter. Oh, sure, AI can find spelling and grammar mistakes (most of the time), but there's so much more to editing than that. . . and you're just not ready.
