We went old school with our boardgames this weekend while staying at a B&B. Lots of books and VHS here, but not many games. We found a box of Pick-up Sticks. That is a game that has only existed in the mythical past to me, but turns out it's real! We gave it a whirl. Probably would've been easier on carpet than on a smooth table.

We also played Battleship using just pens and paper.

Then I remembered I'd packed #Herbaceous, so we played that the next day.

Doing some maintenance in my #forestgarden over the weekend and was so pleased about the progress in the #herbaceous and #shrub layer that I decided to take this wide angled shot. Really benefited from two months' of cooler wetter conditions. Only two years with anything of significance growing ...

These layers (and others not in shot) work together to protect & fertilise the soil, attract beneficial insects, and resist extreme weather.

The sun has gone down behind the hill and my first #mincepies of the year are smelling great although a bit of a disaster, truth be told.

Oh well I'm sure they'll taste nice covered in double #cream ( mentally adds to shopping list). And if nothing else, the house smells very Christmassy.

I am awaiting a delivery of #herbaceous and #Itoh #peonies from Binny Plants near #Edinburgh next week, so thought I'd share some of our photos from previous years.

Hope you like them.

🙂
