Preparing some herbarium sheets for display in our new dinosaur gallery. All of these plant groups – a fern, cycad, and horsetails – were around during dinosaur times.
Installation of this new gallery has been a little delayed but we're planning to open in October if all goes to plan.
Just coming back from the INCT Herbário Virtual da Flora e dos Fungos meeting in Recife. This INCT (National Science and Technology Institute) unites Brazilian and international herbaria+fungi collections collaborating over many years on the creation of a virtual herbarium open to the public. Amazing integration of the many regional, small to medium sized herbaria in the country!

A #StripedCoralrootOrchid has never been documented at #ChatfieldFarms, and the only other time a Jefferson County specimen was collected for a #herbarium was in 1905... Striped coralroots are unique because they don’t gather energy from the sun through #photosynthesis. Instead, they gather energy and nutrients through a #fungus on the roots of a host plant.
