Loverman delivered another ”gig of the year” show @ #IcelandAirwaves. Played alone in Frikirkjan, armed with an acoustic guitar, piano and loop pedal.

A local woman in the front row was excited from the very first beats, yelling hilarious gospel-style responses to Loverman’s shouts. So what did he do? Got pissed off, asked the staff to kick her out?

Absolutely not! He made her his accompanying tambourinist & bg vocalist.

Again, couldn’t go to another gig after that. Overwhelming experience.

Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul @ #IcelandAirwaves were so awesome that nobody after them had any chance of making any impact anymore.

(I tried. Sorry Kælan Mikla, you’re probably very good, but I couldn’t take anything in anymore… I just sat there with a dumb smile on my face.)

#Gig of the year. Also really cool visuals & lights. Usually I don’t even pay attention to that shit, but this time it was an organic part of the show.

What’s the situation with off-venue gigs during #IcelandAirwaves this year?

I found a page, but there's no content:
icelandairwaves.is/off-venue/

No mention about them on the official schedule:

Over the years, some of the best gigs in IA have been off-venue ones. Would be nice if someone's got a full program of them somewhere.

At least Revenge of Calculon is doing a couple of off-venue shows:

How about others?

Whee. My one-man strike force to #IcelandAirwaves just expanded into a posse of three ppl.

We had to upgrade the accommodation too, from one room to a whole apartment. Got lucky! It's right in the centre of #Reykjavík, close to action, but still quite affordable – considering the price level in #Iceland: ~55 €/night/person.

3 blocks from Harpa concert hall (where many of the gigs will be), 3½ blocks from KEX Hostel (another major gig hub during the festival), not far from anything else either.

The #Gdansk substitute for my #IcelandAirwaves trips Back When I Had Money To Go There™ was a-ok.

Main thing – #music – was right on the spot. Saw some gigs of the year:

– Artificialice (wasn’t expecting that impressive stage presence, and flirting with noise)
– Ezra Collective (even awesomerer than I expected)
– Immortal Onion (these youngsters too surpassed my expectations)

Shame and The Stubs rocked alright. Sleaford Mods were ace at their thing, but a full hour was a bit too much for me.
