my view is that ABC have no real principles on this and were happy to go the other way for a while. but now they're so politically unpopular after all their gaffes that they want to fight their way back to their original hardass conservative mandate by picking a fight with the province and make a public show of thrashing people around in the DTES.

I'm sure the simplistic slogan "We'll hire 100 cops and 100 mental health nurses" helped push them over the line during the election. People said at the time it was absurd on the cops side and impossible on the nurses side, and they were right, but now ABC people are berating us for not being serious about it. When their union, for the very first time, endorsed #KenSim for mayor they crossed a line and I said at the time "this is very, very wrong; cops have to stay out of politics". But here is their reward. So my question: in this equation, who is bought and who is sold? Both?
