• 5 MORE YEARS OF WHALE HUNTING IN ICELAND •

The Icelandic government just granted permits for 5 more years of hunting #FinWhales and #MinkeWhales !

Eating #whales isn’t a tradition, this nonsense only benefits a small group of individuals that find interest in this barbaric and outdated #hunt !

Less than 1.5% of Icelandic people actually eat whale meat which is the reason why most of it is shipped to #Japan where it ends up in vending machine and dog food…

Yes… #WhalingLicenses, in plural. For the first time in years, #MinkeWhales will be hunted in #Iceland, along with #FinWhales.

#BjarniBenediktsson who just lost the Icelandic election and has no #mandate, has issued whaling licenses for the next 5 years. This decision wasn’t supposed to be made now, with a review of Icelandic whaling #law still ongoing. But he didn’t wait. These #licenses benefit #companies owned by his friends. It’s #corruption at its clearest.

Evidence of sociality and group foraging in Antarctic minke #whales link.springer.com/article/10.1

"Antarctic #MinkeWhales exhibit a 'fission–fusion' social structure, frequently switching companions. This flexibility is similar to what is seen in several other baleen #whale species. In 60.6% of cases, whales were observed forming short-term associations, engaging in both foraging and non-foraging activities."
