Trump team freezes new #NSF awards — and could soon axe hundreds of grants
The #NationalScienceFoundation is the latest #US agency to be disrupted by #ElonMusk’s #DOGE. With a budget of US$9 billion, the NSF is one of the largest funders of #basicresearch in the world.
DOGE is also reviewing a list of active research grants, assessed in February by NSF, for terms associated with diversity, equity and inclusion (#DEI). It is considering terminating more than 200 of them.

Here we go again… the folks who ran on “freedom of speech” are censoring words at the National Science Foundation.

Want your grant to be considered? Here’s a lengthy list of things thou must not say. Like disability, female, trauma, marginalized, minorities, lgbt, or racism

For decades we’ve been fighting to close the “health gap”… Which is a term given to the differences in healthcare a marginalized person receives compared to a cishet white male.

Ask any marginalized person about their interactions with the healthcare system, and you’ll hear at least one horror story. I’ve repeatedly written about how much better my care is if I bring a white man with me.

This level of censorship will wipe out all the progress we’ve made.

If you look at the list, the only thing left to study will be straight white men.

Censorship and science don’t mix. The only people who seek to benefit from this egregious gagging of research institutions and public health are those pushing a white supremacy agenda.
