Some are American editions with price in $ and some are British with price in £. Cody<p>These poems by Wilfred Owen pertaining to the horrors faced by soldiers in the WW1. I cried my way through these horrifically beautiful poems about war everything wrong with it. Owen leaves no stone unturned in this rendition of his and his comrades' experiences in rhyme, pulling away the vale of honour that shrouds military service. Cody<p>I just finished N⁰ 73 of Penguin Little Black Classics as my first of the set to read. I love the story of Icarus. Scylla cutting off Nisus' purple tress to give to Minos has a certain fantasticism to it that's not often seen in contemporary lit. SBird<p>Look at this beauty I bought yesterday! Dante's Inferno with a nice introduction, notes, commentary, and bilingual Italian/English translation, which was exactly what I wanted. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I decided to treat myself with the circles of Hell 😈 I was checking with my wife where we would end up in and the possibilities are vast. I swear these #PenguinClassics style #DoctorWho books are my favourite thing, but just seem to sneak up each release. I don’t think they’re promoted well at all but they’re SUCH FUN!
Lunchtime reading: continuing new translation of Matsumoto's Tokyo Express from Penguin Classics, and very much enjoying both story and the descriptions of life in 1950s Japan.
Heading back to Edinburgh after a few days home with dad, travelling in company of one of Japan's greatest detective novel writers, Seicho Matsumoto, a new translation by Jesse Kirkwood for a lovely Penguin Classics edition, with French flaps.
