@Di4na @joshbressers We were talking about it the weekend at #PyConCZ : it is the similar problem to academia. Most of these institutions were good in throwing new projects out, but there is really no appeal for any academic to write a paper about fixing one-off bug in some software package. Thus the horrible state of numpy and so on.
I've spent 3 days volunteering at the Czech
#Python community conference, #PyConCZ. I am exhausted, overwhelmed with emotions and I feel like it was a week. After 4 years of no Czech PyCon, this was the biggest one ever and I am not getting any younger. Doing this and meeting all the folks was very emotional and intense for me. The amount of praise we received in person from visitors is extraordinery. I'm still shiverring.
This event was phenomenal
We'd like to send out a massive thank you to everyone who contributed to #pyconcz 23. Whether you attended, delivered a talk, or volunteered — you're the heartbeat that makes it what it is.
While we work on releasing all the videos, we invite you to check out inspiring stories from various community members sharing their motivations why they do what they do.
#PyCon #community
Thank you @pyconcz for an incredible conference.
I got to spend the past 4 days with incredible people from the Czech Python community and pythonistas all around the world.
Learning, inspiring, getting inspired and just having plain old fun.
When I got to the hotel last night, I felt emotionally, socially and professionally fulfilled.
Most importantly, I felt like I was with a community belong in. With friends – new and old.
#PyConCZ23 is over. I am tired but happy - we managed to revive the conference after a long Covid break and it was a blast!
I was honoured to coordinate a fabulous team of onsite volunteers and it was such a rewarding role. Happy to meet all of you and thank you again for all your time and energy you invested to this year's #PyConCZ!

Day 3 of #pyconcz is already over, we hope you enjoyed the workshops to the maximum.
We want to thank again all the participants, speakers, sponsors, and especially the volunteers who tried to make Pycon the best it could be all three days.
We had a fun #TestDrivenDevelopment workshop at #PyConCZ23 today. Pair-programming, katas and practicing the craft of testing is always a great investment of time.
Good morning!
The last conference day, packed with exciting workshops at the Czech Technical University, has officially begun. We hope you had fun at yesterday's unforgettable afterparty!

Waking up at 5:something to get to my alma mater. Brings back memories. #pyconcz
@joshbressers @Di4na (actually somebody today at #PyConCZ told me that some foundation will pay some large money for NumPy) Exactly the situation with NumPy is completely ridiculous … I know for fact that large Wall Street banks, high-frequency traders etc. use it heavily for their analysis, and yet there is not enough money for few programmers to be employed by some foundation to maintain it.
Day 2 of #PyConCZ ends with thanks to all the amazing attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who made this conference happen!
Tomorrow, workshops at a new venue, but tonight, let's celebrate at the afterparty!

Domitil Katemo just gave a fantastic intro about "Python in the Namibian Desert".
Do you even know where Namibia is?
@EvilDMP would phrase it like "you just head in the direction of South Africa and then turn right before you get there."
And we actually learned today that Daniele is heavily involved in Namibias Python story.
The always entertaining talk gave us some insights about the local challenges but also about the incredible community down there.
Thank you!
Attention, change in the program, from 16:40 there will be a talk in the doc room: from a freetime Python project to standard in localization - Weblate and talk by Benjamin Alan Jamie
#pyconcz
During the break between talks, come and have a coffee or tea.
️ You can find the coffee corner on the ground floor as well as on the first floor. The tea corner is located on the first floor just by the stairs.

Next up - David Majda on "Making Remote Teams Work" @pyconcz .
Did you know that #Canonical is fully remote? And I think it works really well.
But there is always room for improvement.
I am curious to learn some tips and tricks on how other people make it work.
