Billy<p>I am making a razor strop out of a vintage firehose. I imagine sewing like a zigzag or grid over the closed end to close it and reinforce it. I will then push a pair of rivets through a pair of gaps in that pattern to close a piece of leather over the end. I'll do this on both ends. A D-ring or some other hardware will pass through the loop of leather.</p><p>I haven't done any sewing since home economics in middle school (I'm 40). What are the words for that grid or zigzag pattern to reinforce something?</p><p>What needle should I be looking for to do this?
