@ExtinctionR Still quite late and the €59 isn't a guaranteed price but starting excl. mandatory seat reservation (on the french leg of the journey).
- Needless to say Cologne-Paris has been on offer with #Thalys for two decades starting €39 and taking merely 3h15m.

@Sustainable2050 that's because they don't make $$$ selling cheap #Thalys tickets.
- And even if they were to make 20% commission at best) there's a difference if they make that off a €39 train or a €279 flight)...
Every so often I send people this video of a man 'fixing' a stuck Thalys nose hatch.
It's a beautiful illustration of how modern technology works: it's all shiny, round and futuristic. Yet daily operation still requires people who have had "on the job" training in the exact method to nonchalantly kick it in place.

Tack, mycket bra information och tjusiga bilder! Finns det tillgängligt att läsa på webben också? Det är så svårt att pausa och backa i newpipe.
Har någon erfarenhet av #Thalys? Jag åkte den vägen från Köln till Paris för ett antal år sedan, och det var en hemsk upplevelse. Platsbiljetten var värdelös, för det var fullsmockat och folk bara skrattade när jag visade den. Hela tåget stank av överfulla toaletter med trasiga dörrar. Har det blivit bättre? Finns det alternativ om man vill åka till Paris?
First #Thalys I am taking since 1997. By the looks it’s probably that old. Not uncomfortable, but worn and dated. 135€ Paris-Cologne is a high price for that experience, especially as there are no alternatives to get to Brussels from Paris. But that’s what they calculate, right? People have no choice, so we can limit the capacity and up the prices. Typical.

Ook voor Nederlanders een alternatieve #Trein om naar Parijs te komen. Langzamer maar goedkoper.
De nieuwe #Eurocity-trein van #Brussel naar #Parijs. Dat is een goedkoper en ook trager alternatief voor de #Eurostar (de vroegere #Thalys tussen Brussel en Parijs. Voorlopig rijdt de trein alleen tijdens de Olympische en paralympische spelen in Parijs. Op termijn zal de nieuwe verbinding op structurele basis gebruikt worden.

Starting from 15 June, some Eurostar Blue E320 trains are operating as Eurostar Red services from Amsterdam to Brussels or even Paris, but only in one direction. This is done to prevent running empty trains between Amsterdam and Brussels with the closure of the Eurostar Terminal in Amsterdam.
