After working on four challenges for #FrontendMentor, it’s difficult for me to go back to working on projects for #TheOdinProject.
The Frontend Mentor challenges had simple, yet professional designs and high expectations regarding accessibility and responsiveness.
The projects for The Odin Project have designs that don’t look like they were made by a professional designer and come with the instruction not to worry about responsive layouts.
Those are two very different sets of constraints!
#100DaysOfCode Round 2, Day 26:
For #TheOdinProject, I finished reading about SVG.
I also wrote the JavaScript code for the backspace button on my calculator app. It was either a very easy task, or I didn't test the outcome thoroughly enough.
#100DaysOfCode Round 2, Day 18:
For #TheOdinProject, I declare the calculator project completed. It's good enough for now.
That completed the Foundations Course. On to the Full Stack JavaScript learning path!
#100DaysOfCode Round 2, Day 17:
For #TheOdinProject, my calculator for the final project in the Foundations Course passed all tests for the basic features. Good enough for now!
It takes positive integers (and the number zero) with up to ten digits as input and perform basic arithmetic operations with them, although it doesn't follow the order of precedence.
I still need to write the README and deploy the project to GitHub Pages.
I plan to add the additional features for extra credit later.
Today I spent 1 hour 17 minutes learning web development with #TheOdinProject.
I only had enough focus for some light reading. I read the lesson What You Can Do to Prepare in the course Getting Hired and most of the articles linked in the lesson. I picked the lesson because one of the topics was building a portfolio, either on GitHub or a personal website. That's something I want to start working on soon.
And that concludes this round of the #100DaysOfCode challenge. I made it to day 100!
Today I spent 2 hours 6 minutes learning web development with #TheOdinProject and way too much time trying to pick fonts for an exercise on web fonts.
The filler text in the exercise was Hipster Ipsum, so I tried to find the most hipster font on Font Squirrel.
#100DaysOfCode R1D82
Today was the first time I was seriously stuck while learning web development with #TheOdinProject. I tracked 2 hours and 2 minutes, but that's an underestimate.
I was working on the second extra credit for Project: Etch-a-Sketch in the JavaScript Basics section of the Foundations Course.
I'm not proud how I solved the problem. I looked through the solutions other students had submitted until I found a code snipped that I could adapt for my needs.
#100DaysOfCode R1D65
Today is Day 50 of 100. I made it to the halfway point!
I spent 2 hours and 2 minutes learning web development with #TheOdinProject.
I'm still working on the lesson Arrays and Loops in the JavaScript Basics section of the Foundations Course.
#100DaysOfCode R1D50
On Wednesday, I spent 1 hour 22 minutes learning web development with #TheOdinProject.
I finished the lesson Understanding Errors in the JavaScript Basics part of the Foundations Course and started the Rock Paper Scissors project.
#100DaysOfCode R1D45
Today I spent 2 hours learning web development with #TheOdinProject.
I finally finished the lesson Function Basics in the JavaScript Basics section of the Foundations Course.
