As part of my #Poetry #Reading goal I've just started "Remember Me: Poems To Learn By Heart From #Aotearoa New Zealand", an anthology compiled by Anne Kennedy. Her intro talks about why & how to memorise poems, and it was going well until she mentioned that one of the "remember me" poems is Dennis Glover's "The Magpies"". I hate the birds and the poem. Just seeing the name brings back bad memories of being forced to learn & recite it at school. A big NOPE from me #bookstodon @bookstodon
