That's why European organisations (& even national governments) should leverage their Invitations To Tender (ITT) and only accept submissions made using ODF formats (which all office suites can produce/edit/read).
Using open formats truly is a little 'price' for companies to pay, when they get hundreds of thousands or even millions € with an ITT.
Nice to see Cambridge University Libraries urge the use of open (non-proprietary) file formats:
"...we need to make sure the data files can be found and used by anyone at any time, forever. Ideally, this means using open file formats where possible..."
I'd rather we handwrite & mail letters back and forth.
The mere discussion of competing incompatible free meeting apps implies such larger societal problems than my remaining lifespan has to address even superficially.

If it was my decision we'd only use #OpenStandards and #OpenFormats, but sadly it's not my decision...

- #FLAC is the go-to for #Audiophiles
- #SIP & #ZRTP are the only #MultiVendor #VoIP protocols and run every #IP phone that isn't a #SCIP or #GSMK #CryptoPhone...
- #OpenVPN, #WireGuard, #IPsec & #L2TP are the only major #VON rptocols, also #OpenSource

I'm excited because I've seen several well-intentioned authors who have only made their open / OER textbook available as PDFs, or worse, ask you to "just clone it in Pressbooks". Not all of us have academic Pressbooks accounts.
