This is a “porn ban” for NH being heard on Wednesday in the NH judiciary committee.

It’s wild because it’s telling electronics manufacturers they have to install a filter on smart phones and tablets that would prevent minors from accessing obscene materials, and I just don’t understand how they think device manufacturers are going to go through all this just so they can sell devices in our tiny state. We can just go buy them in mass. Or kids can use their laptops because those aren’t included in this law.

After you enter your information you would choose February 5, then you would choose the judiciary committee from the drop-down, then you would choose HB293 at 11 AM, support or oppose, and if you write anything in the text box just be aware that it becomes public record.

If the link here does not show you the text for the bill you should see a drop-down for “version” and you’ll just want to choose introduced, or if there’s a more recent one pick that one. That should allow you to read the whole bill.

You can read the whole thing in the link but I mainly wanted people to see without clicking that this only applies to tablets and smart phones and that it requires the manufacturer to come up with a filter and it creates civil and criminal penalties for people or manufacturers who help a minor get around the filter.

Then at 9:30 AM you would choose house bill 232 and OPPOSE

I also opposed the 11 am HB293 because that’s the #PornBan that the southern states have, it would ban pornography for anyone under 18. (Same day, same committee)

Now I understand why I saw a photo of old people protesting inside the mall of New Hampshire with signs that say “I can’t GOON”

If Etsy acquires, gets acquired by, or merges with eBay or Amazon or Alibaba or Temu in the next six months, I called it yesterday, based on my theory that when a platform rolls out new pornocalypse policies, it usually indicates a financial inflection point like a merger or acquisition.

My feed's been full of pornocalypse lately, so I went back to look at Matt Mullenweg's "Why "Go Nuts, Show Nuts" Doesn’t Work in 2022" that he wrote to explain why the ballyhooed Tumblr porn "unbanning" was a search-invisibility nothingburger.
