Yesterday, @hans mentioned that the Dutch police used to use Porsche 911s. That reminded me of this earlier police-spec Porsche 356 SC I saw at Techno Classica Essen in 2023. It is described as being in ‘delivery condition’ - which appears to mean it has its police equipment such as the blue light (top of the windscreen) and siren (rear engine cover) fitted but not its police livery. Nice.

I must say, this evenings time in the garage was really nice. The shell of the car is kind of in a good place. It’s nice to be past the phase where I’m scraping 50 years of crud off of this car. It’s also nice to be adding rather than subtracting for a change.

Starting to put the front suspension back together. Just test fitting for now to make sure everything goes together as there are a fair few totally new parts going in. These upper and lower arms are brand new for example. Nothing torqued down yet (need to learn how to use my new torque wrenches).

#RadRide #weirdcarmastodon exclusive for sale! This is a 2000 Toyota FunCargo, an MPV that's so blissfully of the turn-of-the-century blobject era. It's clean inside and out, AT and has a secret inside: A wheelchair lift in the back! This vehicle is #disability ready, featuring an automatic transmission for easy driving and the fact it's right-hand drive makes exiting safer, since you'll be stepping onto a curb and not the road. $4100 shipped, $4750 with customs clearance docs. DM for interest!

Today, another fairly exotic police car. This Jaguar XJ-S coupé, which lives at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, was a demonstration car that was lent out to police forces for evaluation purposes in the early 1980s, although I’m not sure whether any ended up being sold for police use. Jaguar’s four-door saloons have, of course, often been used by the police in the UK.
