Good to see bog re-wetting underway in Ireland's Midlands region.
Drained peat soils are significant hot-spots of CO2 emissions, so this is a real green win for climate, as well as biodiversity. It will make a real contribution to a just transition.

I remember doing window sampling through bogs in West Meath more than 20 years ago. The pneumatic hammer made the peat wobble like a jelly and your wellies would be slowly sinking... We had to stand on bits of plywood to not get sucked in. One bog was more than 13m thick.
