#TheBoldOnes s1e3 (1969) - 8/10
Dry, well-meaning crime drama.
#HariRhodes and #LeslieNielsen investigate the murder of a City Commissioner, who may or may not have been corrupt.
As much as the script is about the crime, it’s also about the inevitability of corruption and graft in high-level politics.
The investigation puts a halt to a major urban renewal project, sparking talk of race relations and potential riots.
The episode is mostly characters who take themselves very seriously. Something that’s very obvious at those times when the story isn’t moving forward. But, some surprisingly-slick editing/cutting keeps things interesting. And the cast are strong. In the end there’s some action/violence and a neat twist concerning the person ultimately responsible for the death.
#EdwardAndrews is very good as the powerful businessman pulling the strings behind everything.
