She is spinning a very fine wool yarn (not linen) using a long draw. She has several well-carded rolags of wool in her lap waiting to be spun. The wheel has a double drive band, which is best for consistent and very fine thread. The position of her right hand suggests she is holding the wheel still while posing for the picture. An expert spinner!
