I dry brushed the bases. They are a bit bare, but I think it's ok. The rest of the army will have different bases, but I want those to look like they just got summoned from the warp (not sure about AoS lore).
I'm still undecided about the rim: Tzeentch turquoise or black?
Anyway I still have a few touch ups to do, and those will be done.
I worked on the bases of my blue horrors today.
I think the pot of paint is 3 or 4 years old, and it's was hard to work with it.
At first, I didn't think I would have enough.
I hit some painted parts, so I'll have to clean up later.
Vizzik Skour is unimpressed by your offering of cheese. Better break out the brie.
Last progress for today.
I applied a fluorescent yellow on the flames. We will see the effect after it dries. It's not what I expected, but I think it will stay like that.
I've started the bases. I'm planning a mix of pink, purple and blue, which will show under crackled texture paint.
I dry brushed multiple greens on the flames today.
I don't think it looks good on most of them :'(
The flames are very small, and my smallest dry brush was not giving a smooth result.
I think I'll put some fluorescent yellow on top and call it a day.
The models are fun, but they are too small to be able to do anything smooth and controlled.
More painting today. I did a first base coat of yellow for the flames. It's a slightly desaturated yellow, and I'm planning to do green flames.
I don't want orange flames to pop out too much and become the center of attention against the blue.
I finished the highlights on my blue horrors.
I got a lot of paint consistency issues. Either too thick, too runny, or not uniform distribution of the pigments.
From 30cm they look ok, but there are very strong jumps from yellow to blue.
I need to practice more glazing, layering and blending in general, but not with yellow on those very small miniatures.
Next are the flames and the bases.
One day paint job success. Was a spur of the moment decision to get these done today. Quite pleased! #WarhammerCommunity #PaintSlam25 #nerdlings #AgeOfSigmar #GloomspiteGitz
Very quick session today.
I repainted the eyes, and gave a purple tint to the blades.
I think batch painting is now finished and I need to go through each model one by one for highlights.
A bit more brush licking, and I now have painted the beaks.
Yellow is such a painful color to use.
Some eyes need to be repainted, but I'm happy with the direction things are taking.
Painting eyes has been satisfying.
I don't think they are all perfect, but most of them are good.
There are only 2 or 3 models for which I needed multiple attempts.
I didn't share yesterday, but I've been painting eye sockets for 2 days.
Tomorrow, I should be able to finish the eyes.
My small brush starts to split very easily. I will use a bigger brush next, because it's going to be impossible to do something clean if I don't have a nice tip.
I finished applying the metallic paints on my blue horrors today.
They will still need more work, but I'll do it during the highlighting stage.
My next step is going to be the eyes
All my blue horrors got their gold. The models are very good, but batch painting is making them less enjoyable.
I think I will do the steel parts next to be done with the metallics. It should be way quicker as not all of them have a weapon (opposed to have 3 arms, 2 legs, a few tentacles, with accessories).
All the nails got a base coat, I started painting the gold details.
I think I'm going to keep doing batch painting until all parts have the right color. And then I will do each model individually for the highlights, fixing mistakes, etc.
11/20 blue horrors now have at least one coat of paint on their nails.
It's so time consuming, and will need at least 2 coats.
Ice yellow doesn't have a great coverage, or I didn't mix my pot well enough.
I'm not close to finishing those guys :'(
Completed the teeth on my blue horrors.
I started the nails, but my patience for the day quickly ran out.
While I found painting teeth mostly satisfying, I find painting nails very annoying.
