#AmWatching the first episode of Friends and Neighbors on Amazon Prime. In the second scene, John Hamm does a Don Draper demographic-laden analysis with a young ingenue at the bar. I never really got into Mad Men, but maybe this will be the season for it. I like John Hamm, though.

Just finished watching #TheWildRobot. I think Dreamworks outdid itself with this adaptation. As much as I have loved every Pixar film I’ve seen, this one tops them. The overall artwork, animation, and voice acting are utterly gorgeous.

The extras included on the disc are very entertaining too.

#AmWatching it again at least twice more before I have to return it to the library. Will probably get my own copy eventually.

is an impressive show, with stunning performances. The gimmick of each episode being a one-shot and real-time reminded me of the fad for live drama TV in the 90s/00s. It was done v well, but I think the form ended up limiting the storytelling too much.

There wasn't enough meat to the incel theme to have bothered invoking it, IMO. Mentioned it without saying anything about it. I didn't get a clear enough picture of how the murder happened or why.

Needed 4 more episodes

I'm really enjoying Last One Laughing (UK), but mostly bc I have parasocial relationships with the contestants and love hanging out with them as people. It's not a *funny* show, but it is very appealling in that way of seeing humans doing very human things, and being with friends. Intimate and unvarnished.

Like the OG Taskmaster in that way, which is something the other versions I've watched (NZ & Aus) don't do as well, leaning on performance more than for-real playing the game.

I started watching #Bleach during rowing. Watching something makes it easier to pace myself than music. I actually watched Bleach back in the day as a teenager, but it's been so long I remember very little of the plot. It's nostalgic and more interesting than I remember.

I hate this stupid bottle-episode trend. When TV used to be 24 episodes a season, sure, take an episode to do a random story. But with 10 episode seasons? Even if it's a good bottle episode (like tonight's Mythic Quest about Pootie) it's still robbing us of, like, a tenth of a season!

What starts out as a bloody and rather silly horror comedy loses its way in the second half as the narrative falls a little flat and it gets a bit samey. A stronger cast might also have helped as star Theo James feels overwhelmed here in dual roles. But the film offers plenty of violent, gore-soaked fun for fans of horror comedies assuming they don't have sky-high expectations. 🤔

HubPagesShould I Watch..? "The Monkey" (2025)With some heavyweight horror names behind it, you'd expect this goofy indie effort to be a class act. Benjamin Cox thinks it's more of a clown - still scary but will probably make you laugh more.

This film, giving debut leading roles to Michelle Yeoh & Cynthia Rothrock, may have kick-started the 'girls with guns' subgenre but it hasn't aged particularly well in spite of the efforts of its leading ladies. 🤔 As ever, thanks for supporting my work and feel free to share. 🙏

HubPagesShould I Watch..? 'Yes, Madam!" (1985)Widely considered to be the first example of a 'girls with guns' film, Benjamin Cox wonders what it is about this film that makes it stand out. Basically, it all comes from its two leading ladies...
