I am thankful that the local mechanic had time to put the studded snow tires on my car yesterday, because it was just in time for a storm that wasn't supposed to hit us to veer north. My friends were outside waiting for breakfast despite the weather. I love how squirrels use their tails like a coat.
Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA. May it be a day of respite.
Freezing drizzle this morning but the die hard regulars were waiting for me to fill the feeders.
It is finally raining here so maybe New York will have fewer wildfires next week. I am struggling a bit with some personal and family stuff in addition to *waves hands around* all that out there. The squirrels don't have any advice for me but they make me smile, so that's something.
A new friend. He followed me for about 10 minutes and seemed to like being photographed.

Mushrooms are a favourite treat of the American red squirrel. Sometimes, these require a bit of prep work; red squirrels have been known to pluck shrooms at ground level and then hang them out to dry on tree branches before chowing down.

Wut?!?
I wish I could capture the motion of the foot stamping that was going on. Red squirrels have very expressive body language. He was mad that I was sitting too close to a peanut for him to grab it safely. (I did leave it for him after the picture.)
Red, party of three? Welcome to Squirrelandia Cafe. Your tables are ready. Enjoy your lunch.
Morning meditation time has been damp for the past couple of weeks. Red and I have had enough rain now, thanks.
