I don't know how many of yous bank with Monzo but they're running a 1p challenge.

Someone on their forum created this sheet for how much you'd need to save per month (set aside to make sure you make the end of the challenge)

I'm giving it a go, it seems totally do-able and one that, with some planning, won't be noticed. If anything will help cover bills in Jan/Feb next year when work's dried up.

I've had an 'Active Card Check' with PayPal on a card that isn't linked to my PayPal account.
Suspicious or what?

PayPal were stupendously useless.

The bank - Monzo - have taken it seriously and have blocked & replaced the card.

I don't know how these things work, but it's a drip-drip of loss of confidence in online payments.

I have banked with #FirstDirect for thirty years.
Today I have ditched them and switched all my accounts to #Monzo.

Because fuck you First Direct, for being so hung up on titles and making it SO difficult to change that.

My account is Miss IFR and they’ve knocked back a cheque made out to Mrs IFR. Monzo didn’t even ask for a title.

I’ve spent over an hour on the phone w/my credit union today for what shouldn’t have been a call in the first place: adding my card to my phone for tap-to-pay. Every other card I’ve added has been a quick, automated process.

Aaaaand by the end of the call, it still wasn’t working.

I *really* want to support my local credit union, but this is unacceptable. I’ve been trialing Monzo for my pocket money; this may push me over the edge to use it for our joint account as well.

5 years at #Monzo yesterday. After not really being in one job for more than 2-3 years at a time, it's quite an achievement for me. I can't imagine being anywhere else now (except retired! 🤞), I'm very lucky to get to work with some great people all the time.

The #Monzo app UI changes are still annoying me, even months later

It also keeps asking me to enable notifications, which I already have enabled

It also keeps crashing and being unable to load the various feeds when I open it

Really feels like it’s taken a massive hit to the quality over the past 6 months or so :/

Wow, have #Monzo gone down hill.

I have someone that does not know the difference between a card payment and Direct Debit (froze the card in response to request to refund a direct debit).

They do not know what a direct debit is, calling them "subscriptions".

They are not able to understand the payments have gone through and need refunding.

They don't know the direct debit guarantee.

This is terrible. I have asked to be transferred 4 times now.

Grr #Monzo, again, accepting DD instructions when I have told them not to, so getting a fraudulent payment refunded.

But they are victim blaming, saying that in order to set up a DD someone has to know the sort code and account, and that I should be careful giving it out!!!

1. They don't - they can make up an account - the check digit is simple.

2. We have to give details for people to pay us - D'uh!!!

Why are all banks a pain?!

At least I am am entitled to an immediate refund so no loss.
