Today I did read about (at the #SymbOS webpage) #insaneOS
a #baremetal os for the #RPi 1,2,3 with some #emulators and #soundtrackers and a SymbOSVM and #ScummVM
Anyone heard about this before?

I've wrote a post about API/driver interface I've designed and implemented for making various devices equipped with OPL soundchip (responsible for that AdLib / SoundBlaster specific sound in old PC games) talk with SCUMMVM on Atari Falcon 030 (,but not only) and little bit about development itself. Some of it was already posted on Atari Forum / YT. https://nokturnal.pl/2025/07/nokturnfm-goes-scummvm #atari #scummvm #atarifalcon030 #atarifalcon #ct60 #retrocomputing #software_development #nokturnfm2 #nokturnfm3 #opl3 #opl2
Space Quest III finished!
I still love the game. It's actually very short when you know the solution (I only used a walkthrough twice)
I also think you can finish the game without going to the Monolith Burger.

I found the two Andromedans! And fell into a trap
Let's settle this with fists
2/
After returning to Ortega and blowing up a generator, I was feeling a bit peckish.
So I set off for the Monolith Burger!
Gee, I didn't know I was in so much debt! I'd hoped to come to an arrangement
Hasta la vista!
(I also did it the other way, I still have good memories )

After being successively killed by a giant snake, a scorpion and carnivorous plants, I found a tourist store!
The seller doesn't inspire confidence
2/
So I left for another planet (Phleebhut, what a funny name), which looks more welcoming...
if you go in the right direction!
Back to business!
I've just escaped from the big cargo ship. My destination: the planet Ortega!
I've got a feeling I'm being followed...
Graphically, the game has aged wonderfully well!
Oops!
So far, I'm managing without walkthrough. I still remember part of what to do or by deduction. On the other hand, it's not always easy to find the right syntax. I almost died on the conveyer

(I had forgotten to pick up an item here)

I've been itching to play Space Quest III for a few days now!
So, let's go!
It's been so long since I've played it
I got a #thing! I'm a little late to the party, but the #Anbernic #RG58XX Plus has arrived, received the #muOS custom firmware and been loaded with gems from a lost time. This sub-€60 #Linux handheld emulates everything from #Gameboy to #SNES, #PSX and #Dreamcast. And yes, it runs #Doom and #ScummVM too! I'm in love!

If you cheekily ask me for my one future #scummvm feature, it would be the ability to output multiple audio output drivers simultaneously.
I would really like to be able to play a single play through with both the Adlib and MIDI audio enabled at the same time.
There are other configurations I would like (such as being able to run mutliple MIDI outputs with different modes), but that one .. that one would really, really be a happy place for now. I would be super happy with General MIDI + Adlib, or MT-32 + Adlib (where games do both). That would open up a whole range of new possibilities.
Being the ability to support all the devices is excellent, but only outputting to one type of device ... we're so close to audio chaos.

@mwichary that reminds me:
Is anyone aware of a way to render the fonts from the weird font files included with ScummVM games?
Toonstruck has a font I wanted to use elsewhere but it seems to be a custom format for that engine.

Someone who owns several versions of a game that he's never even gotten around to playing, yet is still miffed that there exists at least one more version that he doesn't have.
