Looking at the #beach through #tree at the abandoned #Suquash mining site - about 13 minutes North of Port McNeill on #VancouverIsland in #BritishColumbia #Canada

There's remnants of industrial past on beach & lots of rusting iron pieces scattered down there too.

I want to go back with volunteers to do some site cleanup.

Some #Indigenous #CMTs - #CulturallyModifiedTrees at #Suquash #abandoned #CoalMine #industrial site. Local #FirstNations do #traditional #cedar #bark #harvests in this way. The tree stays alive & can be harvested again.

Lots of #iron pieces are scattered all around forest floor - lots of them look like wood bark. This is one of the larger pieces. I found some big iron #spikes left in ground too. My #hands are in photos for scale.
