I've been boosting info about the Switch 2, especially regarding the tariffs, because it's something specific and tangible. People have been looking forward to the console's release for a long time. It illustrates what Trump's policies are doing to ordinary people, in concrete and relatable terms.

One table. Thoughts: •Telecommunications, solar cells, pharmaceuticals, printed circuit assemblies, and semiconductors jump out in the electronics space. •We see large quantities of furniture, apparel, tires, and shrimp. •These tariffs are far larger than I ever expected (e.g., 46% on Vietnam, 49% on Cambodia, 36% on Thailand, etc.). There is no doubt these levels of tariffs will be inflationary, as the USA doesn't have anywhere near the capacity in these industries to produce needed quantities (especially apparel). Implication: Americans' tolerance for the financial pain these tariffs will cause is limited. I expect massive foreign retaliation, aimed at U.S. aerospace, machinery, food, beverage, primary metals, electrical equipment, computers & electronic products, energy, and especially agriculture. Look out for foreign retaliation on U.S. services, for which the USA runs a surplus. I also expect foreign tourism in the USA will plunge for 2025. This has all the makings for causing an actual recession by the end of this year. #economics #markets #shipsandshipping #freight #trucking | 90 comments on LinkedIn
