This week at the #PoetryCafe we’re talking about how much of yourself is reflected in the poetry you write or read.
A lot of my poetry is autobiographical (a lot isn’t as well) so it’s heavily influence by who I am and what has gone in in my life.
As a reader I often enjoy matching moods to the poetry I’m reading. If I’m sad, I’ll read melancholy or despondent poetry. If I’m happy, I’ll read funny or quirky poetry. If I’m outraged, I’ll read angry or protest poetry.
Do you do this? Does poetry reflect you you are in that moment or isn’t more reflective? Let me know!
