Feeling unfulfilled or stuck at work? 3 ways to help you get unstuck via Ideas.Ted.Com [Shared]

Today, so many of us are wishing to safeguard ourselves — and our careers — against uncertainty. But how do we do this in a world where the waves of change keep coming and it can take all our energy just to stay afloat?

By thinking long term, says Dorie Clark, consultant and keynote speaker. “Long-term thinking protects us during downturns (of all kinds), because it keeps us moving toward our most important goals … It’s the surest path to meaningful and lasting success in a world that so often prioritizes what’s easy, quick, and ultimately shallow,” writes Clark in her new book The Long Game.

2023 #Turkish #Elections

On May 14, Turkish voters will go to the polls to elect a new president in what is one of the most important elections of 2023.

Incumbent President Recep Tayyip #Erdogan has maintained his grip on power for 20 years. But, in recent months, an #economic #downturn and a deadly #earthquake in the country have chipped away at confidence in his administration.

According to the latest polling, Turkey’s #united #opposition poses an unprecedented challenge to Erdogan’s rule

Foreign Policy2023 Turkish Elections: What You Need to KnowBy FP Contributors

Has anyone else who sells on eBay seen REALLY decreased sales recently?

I've sold on eBay for 23 years now, just casually on and off when I feel like it, and I've sold a LOT of things, from electronics to toys to clothing-- just everything.

But this year is REALLY strange. I've had NO sales since January, absolutely 0, which is extremely unusual. Three whole months, nothing. I think this is a first. Some months I may only sell a couple things, but it's usually SOMETHING.

I suspect eBay is pushing down listings of sellers who don't pay for their 'promoted' listings. I tried doing some of those, and saw NO increased sales when I did it, so I stopped. Sure, you get so many free listings now but why would I pay a final value fee AND a promoted listing fee, when I see no difference in sales? No thanks.

I have almost 60 things listed in my store, too. And they're all priced pretty decently-- as cheap as I can, with rising shipping rates now, etc.

It's just weird.

Are you all seeing this too? Is it the economy? Something else?

We need more laws that encourage the establishment of #cooperatives over "traditional" for-profit #corporations.

Cooperatives send any profit back into the #community, reducing #inequality. Corporations gather all that money and pass it off to 3rd parties, increasing inequality and draining communities of their wealth and income.

Cooperatives work to serve the community, because they are owned by the community. Corporations are incentivized to #externalize costs for the sake of #shareholders, whether that means #gouging customers, #underpaying workers, or damaging the #environment.

Cooperatives are #robust to economic disruptions, because funds are community-sourced and profit is not the sole motive for their existence. Corporations go out of business or abandon markets when there are economic crises or a #downturn makes business unprofitable.

So many of the problems we face in our economy can be addressed by encouraging the cooperative business model.
