🏭 Fabbriche dell’attenzione:
Siete operai di un sistema che:
- Vi traccia, vi riduce a dati da vendere.
- Premia l’algoritmo, non l’autenticità (sì, anche su Threads e Bluesky!).

La rivoluzione è qui:
🌐 Fediverso:
- Social senza padroni mastodon.uno, pixelfed.uno, bookwyrm.it, peertube.uno

Just used @stefan's tool to see how I'm connected to the fediverse and it's cool!

Surprised to learn my connections are a bit more brittle (I believe that is the social networking [pre internet] term: Out of the 737 servers I am are connected to, 461 of them have only one connection to me) than I would have guessed.

What if we created a social network with a max allowed user base of say, 20 people?

The first users have to be most careful about who they let in, as the hard cap is fast approaching. Inactive accounts self-delete unless the users vote to wait a bit longer. There are no “likes” but you can vote things as “helpful” or “kind”. Everyone knows the entire user base very well. All the content is secret. There are no adverts, but the cost of running the thing is tiny, as it can be hosted anywhere.

Former British PM #LizTruss will set up her own #socialnetwork to overcome being #sensored by #woke #newspapers like @TheGuardian which reported her big news every time. But let's not laugh, there will be so many users that they will need a super big server. So I will donate them one of my old Raspberry PIs. It should have plenty enough capacity for the flood of users.

The Guardian · Liz Truss to launch ‘uncensored’ social network to counter mainstream mediaBy Michael Savage

Liz Truss and Open AI both announcing they are going to make "social networks" this week.

Hard to imagine any reason why you'd want to use either. Truss reckons hers will be "Free Speech" but of course she can't allow illegal posts any more than Twitter can.

OpenAI presumably mostly want training data. Hard to see why anyone would deliberately choose to post their notes to be used by OpenAI without compensation.

If either try to federate, I shall of course be defederating them.

Lifehacker: I Tried Seven39, the Social Network That’s Only Open Three Hours a Day. “The internet is always open. What if it were closed sometimes? That’s the central question of Seven39, an experimental social network that’s only open for three hours a day, starting at 7:39pm Eastern. I logged in to the service last night and found a small, mostly friendly collection of people excited to try […]

Probably spend too much time doing it but I report so much shit that shouldn't be on #tumblr, I'm #anticensorship to the bone but the underage exploitation material needs to be policed better by the admins or start paying me money and give me some admin privs to clean it up and the other problem is the self-replicating BOTS posting this filth and code not keeping upto booting the BOTS and original #user responsible.

got a domain for for my #headscale vps for #inr ₹2
no sh*t!
both in #socialnetwork and linux main in the middle literally comes out of ignorance or malicious intent
our ISP couldn’t possibly have the equipment to man in the middle your encrypted traffic even if they did see it. You’re also too much effort, the other 99% of their users are just using their servers and plain DNS no way they care that much to peek at your traffic even if they somehow could. I just woke up so I’m giving you a 30k foot answer but I’ll return with something more technical. I’m a cyber security engineer and you should be one too if not.

I'm getting more and more unsolicited/unconnected follows. Reasons I'm unlikely to follow you back:
* No profile content. (No avatar is fine by me.)
* No posts.
* No replies to other people's posts,
nor boosts/reposts of others' posts.

Any of those and my assessment is I either need more information, or it's another narcissist I don't need in my feed.
