I spent today running from one doctor's appointment to the next. At the first one, I was told there was something deeply wrong with my heart, and had to live with that for about three hours. At the last on, they said, nah, you're heart's good. That first person was acting on an abudance of caution, but you're fine. And BTW the thing you came to me for? Probably not nearly as big a deal as you thought.

Hard day, but a good day!

#Washington Could Have Had Universal Healthcare? #UniversalHealthcare

Two bills died in committee during the current legislative session. Those bills would have established a system of universal healthcare for Washington State residents.

“So, if everyone loves universal healthcare and all the politicians involved say they do too, why the hell didn’t it get a hearing?”

The StrangerWe Could Have Had Universal HealthcareLast Wednesday was the final day for bills to make it out of their house of origin in the Washington State legislature. While many bills still in play are worth paying attention to, I want to focus on a pair that didn’t make the cut: Senate Bill 5233 and House Bill 1445.

“…I think the fear of the #US #imperialist approach has lately become bigger than the anger towards Denmark," said Julie Rademacher, a consultant & fmr adviser to #Greenland's govt.

Reuters spoke to…Greenlanders in Nuuk, all of whom said they favored #independence, although many expressed concern that a swift transition could damage the economy & eliminate Nordic #welfare services like #UniversalHealthcare & free #schooling.

Rapid unscheduled disassembly of #affordablecareact underway nationwide.

Spare me cruel comments about how people who did not vote or voted “for this” deserve to have no health care now, when heretofore you were saying #universalhealthcare and #universalbasicincome belong to everyone. Everyone includes fools who are deficient in judgment, in our judgment.

I do feel I need to take a moment to extol the virtues of our wonderful - if broken in many ways - #NHS.

This week alone I have had a consultation with a cardiologist with follow up treatment coming, I have an appointment with my GP on Friday morning, and have a mammogram booked for Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, Child has received sterling care from a team of Gynaecologists and midwives, given birth #today to a generally healthy baby girl - although she’ll have scans next week due to clicky hips - has undergone emergency surgery due to haemorrhage and is receiving associated follow up treatment.

And this, ALL of this, comes free at the point of use.
No crippling medical bills, no dodgy insurance denying claims, no invoices.

We are incredibly lucky, and I have never and will never take it for granted. This is #UniversalHealthcare, and I’m more grateful than I could possibly put into words.

Canada is a federation of 10 provinces and 3 territories.
Merging with the US federation should add 13 states, not just one.
This would obviously shake up US politics, with a big majority for #UniversalHealthcare, mitigation of #ClimateDisruption, modernizing the Supreme Court, strengthening of international institutions, for diversity, equity, inclusion #DEI.
Oh, and the #Republicans would adapt or die.
That’s not a bad perspective at all.
