If you're rendering far less pixels than what's visible on screen you're not taking full advantage of the clarity your HMD can offer. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't benefits to a higher resolution screen, namely the screen door effect

The things that matter for GPU requirements are the frame rate of the HMD and FOV. Having a low-FPS mode can make demanding games like easier to run. High FOV is more demanding because you need to render more pixels for a given clarity (2/2)

If you're buying a #VR headset for use with a PC, please understand that a higher resolution screen does NOT mean that you need a better GPU

You can run games at whatever render resolution your computer can handle. There's really no such thing as a native resolution for an HMD due to a final warping step applied to the image to correct for lens distortions

2500x2500 per eye at 90hz is an equal workload regardless of whether it's displayed on a 1440x1600 Index or 3552x3840 Meganex screen (1/2)

Chapman University: Virtual Reality and AI Could Transform Behavioral Assessments in U.S. Schools. “The primary method that U.S. schools use to assess the behavioral abilities of young children may be biased against students from underserved communities. This is all the more alarming considering behavioral assessments can impact the educational trajectory of a student’s life.”
