Best time in spring: fully new drivetrain, chain, cogs, bottom bracket, the hela hoito. Need to change the brake pads still.

Lower chain stay was pretty scratched and rusty, so cleaned that and put some lacquer I had lying around on it. And it wasn't even clear :D But hey, this bike ain't a beauty contestant either...

And don't want to ride it just yet: there's still melting snow, gravel, salt and shit, so will wait till next week for drier and sunnier conditions, as I want to enjoy the clean and smooth mechanical transmission of energy for once.

Meanwhile riding on my single speeds Sibbo, which isn't fixed gear, but smootjm and lazy rollings with a flywheel and disc brakes.

Ugh, guess this chain ring starts has earned its retirement. The teeth are not yet fully shark fins, but not far from it either.

The Hellsinki salt-gravel-ice is a premium grinding material, or whatevah it is we call "hioma-aine" in the saxophone languages.

Bought new drivetrain, except forgot to get a chain, so assembling the 'roller at a later date and running my spare singlespeed bike until the fixed gear is back in business.

Okey dokey II:
The nice sunny -10⁰C day turned into a snow filled evening. Glad I changed the bottom bracket, the old would not have survived the pushy pedaling.

Long time no snow in Mega Hese One, tho. And this one will have molten by tumora, like the proverbial yesterday's snows.

Okey dokey,
I was planning to change my drivetrain in spring when the snow-salt-gravel season is over, but when riding home I felt this oval sensation when pedaling.

And knew the bottom bracket must be living the last days of its life. And yeah, the bearings were pretty shot, so decided to let it retire now. The last two bottom brackets I've ridden until the ball bearings have been literally on the road, and while it's good to use stuff until the end, it sorta sucks when your central axle runs on no bearings.

(It happened to me once during courier work. The drive side bearing just exploded and I rode the last order of the day having bearings only on one crank while the drive side turned in the empty bearing cup. It felt super weird and isn't effective, but you can do it.)

Was a couple of weeks really ill (sinusitis, which sucks & blows), and in the meantime the streets are molten here in South Funland [sick!].

So, switched to summer tires. And not a moment too soon as the repair stitching on my winter tire disintegrated (along with the tire fabric around the stitching).

Still riding in the winter gear (44/19) tho.

And reserved myself a parking space , as Velobia was handing out these stickers.
