My #Boxholm buddy Johan Birath was 63 and had just retired from teaching school when he died on a bike ride yesterday. In addition to being a teacher, Johan was a prolific author and columnist, a well-known local #Labour politician, and a former factory worker. A lot of us are going to miss him!

The Stångebro stone ship on the outskirts of #Linköping was robbed of its standing stones after less than a millennium. But the foundation holes were found in the 1990s. Now the site is a car park, the ship is marked with paint and stout poles, and it is visible on Google Maps. This is one of #Östergötland's two equivalents of Ales stenar. #vikings #archaeology
