@Cbfoley I tend to think of The Truth as a dry run for Going Postal & Making Money; where Sir Pterry really got going on the transition from classic (mediaeval-esque) fantasy setting to a fantasy/steampunk setting.

@Cbfoley
Night watch is my absolute favorite. Read it several times and keep asking myself where is the movie

@Cbfoley we thought this was a ranking for a moment, and got very confused!

What’s the ❌ next to the play of Guards! Guards! - a stand-in for DNF?

@Cbfoley Yay! I love that one so much. I was doing an English course and we’d a class on gothic parody - I used ‘Carpe Jugulum’ and the jokes in it for my presentation - only other person laughing was the teacher but sure she was the one giving me marks so I was chuffed to find she was a Discworld fan too.
Also the ‘sin is treating people as things’ chat from Granny Weatherwax taught me more about empathy than anything else and changed my worldwide

@Cbfoley There are just so many fly references to bands, songs, & artists in Soul Music which will entirely pass future generations by. I'll not point out any yet, because spoilers.

@Cbfoley The Tiffany Aching books are aimed at younger readers, especially given that Tiffany starts at age 9 in The Wee Free Men, and is 16 in ISWM. However they are not "children's books" in the sense of being uninteresting to adults.

@Cbfoley I would say the first book in the Tiffany series (Wee Free Men) is a children's book, then they grew with the audience. I Shall Wear Midnight is at the very least advanced YA.

@Cbfoley I don't consider the Tiffany Aching series to be a kid's book or even YA. It has a young protagonist just like Equal Rites (keep this in mind btw) but its still universal issues not confined by age.

BTW, Soul Music has my absolute favorite subtle joke in all the books. Work out what Imp Y Celyn's name really means.

@Cbfoley have you tied Good Omens, the Carpet People or Strata?

@Cbfoley Beautifully moving book. I cried lots at the ending, though it wasn't exactly sad.

@Cbfoley They attached the dead professor to that seat. So basically it was occupied and he got cranky if someone sat on him.

@Cbfoley I missed so much on the first read-through, i had to go back and reread it straight away!

@Cbfoley moist because he’s a bit of a slimy character 🐌

@Cbfoley

Night watch is my favourite TP book.

It all makes sense by the end 😁

@Cbfoley the ghost is put there! It is his retirement gift for helping Moist.

@Cbfoley Interesting. Night Watch is many people's favourite.

@Cbfoley You're not supposed to know whether or not you like Moist, so it's working as designed!

@Cbfoley
Hope you're up to date on greek philosophers.😁

@Cbfoley Pyramids is one of my faves of the earlier books. The camel called You Bastard is definitely one of my favourite animal characters in the books.

@Cbfoley
Don't read "The Shepherds Crown" until you've read everything else.

@Cbfoley Don't forget "A Hat full of Sky", which preceeds "Wintersmith" and adds some context, such as Sensibility Bustle.

@Cbfoley I missed that and started with the second Tiffany Aching. Still have to go back and read it.

@Cbfoley #GoingPostal was the first #Discworld book I picked up in the #Library - been hooked ever since 😊

@Cbfoley Hogfather would be seasonal and is among the best of the Discworld novels. I’m definitely with you on Witches Abroad, it’s one of my most reread Pratchett books.

@Cbfoley I watched it Xmas morning as I usually do. A friend recorded it onto two DVDs for me when it first came out on Sky. Yes the books are better but that TV adaptation is very good and in places powerfully emotive.

@Cbfoley how would you feel about reading nation or dodger when you're done with the Discworld ones?
