No Encrypting and compressing files does not always work and especially not if the data is minimal or has compression integrated in the data format – not new but always funny in your own projects.

There is a screen cap tool that can bypass encryption without turning off hardware acceleration on Chrome. But with encryption turned on, the screen cap tool acts a bit sluggish and can’t capture every frame.

Unfortunately this meant worst fears confirmed, and came true in last few days: encryption DRM has been turned on for ESPN+ stream, meaning screen cap is no longer possible on iOS or iPadOS or on Safari on Mac.

- Critical files on my thumb drives #encrypted with @cryptomator so that I can access it cross-device, even on my phone. One in my safe, one on my person.

Next is a local network drive.

Normally, dd would suit me well, but I'd like to use the opportunity to encrypt the root drive. How do I set up the #initrd to decrypt a #luks #encrypted root from scratch on the new hardware? Usually, the fine Debian #installer does that for me...
