This story shows why the UK needs more social housing and tighter regulation of private rented accommodation.

I'm glad Labour is ending no-fault evictions, but the long term goal must be to reshape housing policy so that individuals and families are no longer forced into dependency on private landlords.

After a 4 year delay, the #Tories promised end to #nofaultevictions will now enter the legislative process before the end of the year.

Anyone thinking #RishiSunak is casting about for policies that might make him look more in touch with #voters concerns is likely right.

His problem will be whether he can get people to ignore 15 years of chaos & the #housingcrisis with one bit of (very welcome) legal change.
