The Sweat Bees are impossible to ID. This is one of the best photos I have been able to get. It is less than 10mm in size, feeding on a Rudbeckia in my garden. The location is Saskatoon (Central SK) today. Any help? INaturalist suggest Lassioglossum gemmatum, but I am not sure.
I was taking a photo of my bog goldenrod and caught the sweat bees in an absolute nectar orgy. I just love their outsized, ant-like antennas!

One thing I have going for me is that sweat bees simply love to lick me. They land on me and run all up and down my limbs with their tongues out. (This probably means I sweat a lot.)
I love them. I feel like a Disney princess every time this happens.

#Pollinator observations from the last few days. No #Bumblebees, but sighted lots of #CarpenterBees (not living in our house -- they have plenty of logs to reside in), #HumingbirdMoths, a few #Honeybees (from neighbor's hives), and some small bees (#Sweatbees). I know we had some Bumblebees as of last October. I hope they make a comeback, though I've noticed their numbers dwindling...
Also, nothing like doing a little citizen science while you're out protesting. This little sweat bee landed on my sign and has now made their way to iNaturalist:

I'm not sure what exactly is going on but the #SweatBees are treating the obedient plant like it's a condo complex. They climb in, turn around, and chill. So cute! #NativePlants #NorthernIllinois #pollinators

Sweat bees are quite common here in Canada, and they are known to lick the sweat (salt) from people's skin. If this happens to you, feel lucky that you fed a sweat bee! Here is a sweat bee on a mint plant in our backyard.
This is a member of the genus Lasioglossum (family Halictidae), a type of sweat bees, and are effective pollinators.
