Journal – Week 13, March 2025

It was a weird week for sure. Not just weather wise, but also with the happenings and all that. The week started normally, with an easy Monday. On Tuesday I got the call from the surgeon with the update on my hip. Wednesday we had walkies with a friend. Thursday was the usual Germany shopping day. But then Friday started a bit differently. The weekend I tried to relax some more, as Thursday and Friday had taken quite some spoons from my limited stock. Not too bad a forecast, no real cold days, not too much rain, unfortunately also not too many sunny days... But at least it should be dry and not too cold, most of the time... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

“You don’t have anything else to do anyway…”

Or: how to drive me bonkers with one sentence... Especially if it's said after something went wrong that adds more work for me to do... Ugh... I hate that sentence. Especially since I've been hearing it loads since I've lost the ability to work. Believe me, I'd rather have a healthy body and a nice job with a decent income... That's so much better than a broken body, little energy, living on a disability income, and being belittled because of it all... […]

Hip update…

...kind of... 😇 I start writing this post 5 days before the scheduled call from the surgeon. I got the puncture done 8 days ago. And the surgeon will call me in 5 days (as I write this). Unfortunately... It's a 15:00 call, so I'll have the whole day to be anxious about it. As I'm already anxious about it now. I mean, I know I need a surgery. I know that hip bowl (or is it a cup?) needs to be placed in the right position again. So my leg can stop "wobbling", so it can stop tingling, […]

Journal – Week 12, March 2025

A busy week. Monday, we went to Nijmegen for the hairdresser. Tuesday, I went to Cuijk for PT and I gave Skoosh a shower, as (according to her papers) apparently, she should be white... 😉 Wednesday was for some relaxing. Thursday was the usual Germany shopping day. On Friday, I finally had my GP appointment to talk about my ADHD being out of whack at times. The next few days, I took Arwen to the Herperduin a few times. The weather became a little less lovely, but still not too bad... Unfortunately, my body decided that it had to annoy me some here and there, which kinda brought down my mood and motivation some (this is sarcams, of course...). Well, colder nights, but some warmer days. some had a chilly wind, but there sure were some nice and sunny (warm) moments. 🔆 Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Journal – Week 11, March 2025

A mixed week, weather wise, chores wise, pain and emotions wise... The puncture on Wednesday was definitely something that I would not mind if it never happened again. Thursday was the usual Germany shopping day... The weekend I tried to relax a bit, and had a few nice gaming sessions with a dear friend. All sorts of weather predicted for this week. Warmer, colder, sunny, grey, wet... It will be a mixed week, weather wise at least... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

Journal – Week 10, March 2025

A mixed week for sure. Not too many appointments. I managed to get some needed chores done. Asked for help for some follow-up chores. The weather was rather lovely, with almost no wind, not too cold nights, and lovely sunny days. Not a bad week. Some (mental) health struggles, but noting too bad, just annoying a bit... Some colder nights, but also some sunny days with warmer temperatures during the day. A sneak-peek at spring before it actually arrives... ☀️ Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

Journal – Week 9, February/March 2025

A mixed week. Some appointments, some relaxing, some chores, some gaming. Weather went into different directions as well, with warm, sunny wet, windy, and colder... Tried to get some exercises in, but I had big ideas, which didn't all work out, due to my body (and brain) sabotaging me. But, I did get some chores and tasks done, and I enjoyed some gaming, alone and with friends, so that was good. And, of course, there were many nice walkies with Arwen, although some were a wee bit wet... All sorts of weather for this last week of February and the start of March. Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

#FitIn2025 – February edition

The first month of 2025, I didn't have too much progress. Well, there was some, but I still have a long way to go. So well, now it's February, as I start writing this, and that means I have 28 days to make the best of it, and hopefully have some positive results by the time this post gets ready to be shared... I know losing weight takes time. I know it also takes effort. And motivation. And energy... And some of these things can be hard to come by, when you are dealing with chronic pain and an eating disorder. But, that doesn't mean that it's impossible! It mostly means that it's a bit harder on me. I know it's never easy to change your fitness and improve your health. OK, there are exceptions where it looks like it comes "easy" to some folks... But unfortunately, I am not one of these folks... […]

Journal – Week 8, February 2025

Monday was a normal day, Tuesday I had PT, which was very needed and good. Wednesday I got some gaming in, yay! Thursday was the usual Germany groceries day with mum. On Friday, I went to the Zoo on my own for the very first time! Just a few hours, till it got too busy, but yay me! All sorts of weather! From cold nights to a very warm day. And I am guessing we'll see more tain than it says in the forecast, as usually warmer weather also means more rain here. Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

Preparing for disruption…

When I got my hip revision about 3,5 years ago, I was hoping it would last me at least 10-15 years. So when I recently got a CT scan, and the surgeon saw the results... I got a diagnosis that didn't excite me one bit... I mean, it was good to know that my pains and discomforts had a valid reason, that it wasn't "just me" and all that... I never thought that I would need to get my hip socket/bowl/cup (or whatever it is they wanna call it) reattached because it was letting loose... 😔 I need to have my hip area tested for infections, as I had several after the surgery. I had three months of loads of heavy antibiotics to deal with, on top of the recovery of the surgery itself. And seeing that an infection can be a cause of the socket coming loose, the doc needs to be sure that the area is clean. If and when the area is clean, then the surgery will be scheduled. I have no idea how long this will all take, but... People knowing me also know that in my brain, I am already trying to plan everything that I need to arrange and do when that surgery comes. […]

That damned leg…

My right leg and me go back a long way, 😉. But since I was 16, due to an incompetent school medic, things got worse faster than they would have otherwise. Sure, the leg was bad, it would have given me issues in the end. But the way it happened now, it was probably way worse than if it had happened over time... The way it happened still angers me. It hurt so much and it made the bad situation even worse. Of course I can never be sure, as this happened and I will never know what would have happened if nature had done it's thing by just time... But yeah... I'll try to give a short explanation of what happened in the last 28 years up to now, but I fear the definition of short may still seem long to you. Sorry in advance! […]

Journal – Week 7, February 2025

It's not been a too bad week. I did have some mental health/anxiety struggles that impacted my well-being and they made it harder to focus on my health journey. On Wednesday, I had a nice walk with a dear friend and her dog at the Herperduin with Arwen. Sorry, didn't take any snaps... Thursday was the usual Germany day. And on Sunday afternoon, dad came over and together we hung 4 small shelves in the guest room. Grey days, wet days, colder days.... Can't wait for spring to come closer, bringing some (hopefully) better weather... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

Journal – Week 6, February 2025

It's been quite a week! Monday and Sunday were quite relaxed. Tuesday I had PT, Wednesday someone came for my loo seat (hihi), Thursday we were back in Germany for groceries, Friday was the busiest day with Zoo time with my friends, Saturday I needed to recharge some spoons again... Forgot to save this on Monday, so it's missing from the forecast. Monday was colder at night with -4, and about 5 during the day. The rest of the week doesn't seem too bad, with decent weather and no rain predicted. There's even some sun here and there, if the forecast is correct... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

Journal – Week 5, January 2025

A rather busy week today. The hairdresser in Monday, with some groceries shopping with mum. On Tuesday, I went to the hospital for the scan and appointment with the surgeon, and he didn't have good news for me. Wednesday was a chilled out day, where I tried to relax. Thursday was as usual, where I went to Germany with mum. Friday morning I took Arwen to the vet for her new injection and then I relaxed a bit. Did some chores during the weekend, but there was also some gaming involved. Another week with all sorts of weather, unfortunately, many raindrops are being shown... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]

#FitIn2025 – January edition

We're a few weeks into the new year now. I have started this post when we were just a few days in, and I tried to expand it bit by bit, until the day this would go "live". But when the end of 2024 came near, I made a plan to try to get my health back on track in 2025. I knew that 2024 would be a difficult year for me, with the move and all the changes. I knew I would struggle to find my new ways, to adjust the routine, to get through all the changes. And I did struggle. I did fail in keeping my heath a priority. I started exercising less. I started eating more snacks again. I started eating less healthy. I did everything I should not have done, and I noticed all the changes made me spiral. I lost motivation. I lost energy. I lost all the progress that I had worked so hard on. I learned that part of the changes I was experiencing were caused because my hormones had started to change as well. My hip started acting up, which made it harder to exercise. I had enough excuses to keep snacking while exercising way too little. And then, 2025 came closer, and I knew I had to quit the excuses and I had to pick up the pieces and start putting them back together again... […]

Managed some gaming on Saturday. Tried to be active and mind my food. Some days went better than others... Journal – Week 3, January 2025

It's been quite a week. The weather wasn't too nice, cold and all that. I didn't have too many appointments. Did go to Germany with mum. Struggled to get my new headphones, and then I had to deal with yet another defect. But I did get some gaming in on Saturday. 😊 All sorts of weather, "warm" and cold, not too much sun, except maybe the weekend... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. […]
