#WritingWonders Feb Day 16 — What can be found on your MC's bedside table, or near their bed?
She sleeps with a 400 year old primer on arcane physics and mathematics she stole when she ran away—except, of course, when she's sharing the covers. The tan leather is stained with saliva, is slightly chewed, smells like an unwashed girl in a library, and is very soft because she really does sleep with it like a doll. A nightstand is a place for things to fall beside the mattress so as not to slide away. There you'll find her lost quills and her discolored daisy-pattern student notebook. It's the real treasure because the scratches on the pages are the book filtered over and over through her head. It's filled with teeny-tiny notes in rainbow ink, annotated at odd angles, the most recent in shorthand. Because she studied it so often, the center opens up to the Impossible Warping. She copied it from a mob boss who'd figured out it lacked something essential, and wanted to control the someone who might figure it out. She can use the Other Hands. Warping reality through a singularity feels like dying. But... it lets you travel places, so it can occasionally be worth it.
