Any #science #endocrinology #doctor types or knowledgeable patients out there?

Have some questions before I spend money I don’t have re #DHEA & #pregnenolone.:

I’m trying to find a good compounding chemist in #Melbourne #Ausralia to compound DHEA (it’s illegal in Aus to buy off the shelf, need compounding prescription & permit- got both).

BUT! I’m getting confused by the chemists. Some say I must get a DHEA troche or a capsule will convert straight to #estrogen or #testosterone, no chance to tap DHEA receptors (unsure if they exist). I’ve also read it modulated other receptors before being metabolised.Wouldn’t I be better off w a cream in that case? Other compounders say there’s no difference. BS?

I thought #pregnenolone
might help more. It’s the ‘mother hormone’, right?
Since I caught #COVID19 I’m mostly producing low hormones but it varies. Cortisol normalised, still on thyroid meds, oestrogen shot up, no DHEA or testosterone…plus much more going on.

Can anyone help? I’ve been through multiple doctors, asked pharmacist and they all contradict themselves and each other or don’t know what either home does.

Don’t ever get #ChronicIllness

You’ll up relying on people who don’t know how medicine works. Very few knowledgeable people.

The NEJM @nejm posted a blistering commentary on the shitty, biased, incompetent and frankly illegal Cass review. It's v well written, though unfortunately paywalled.

"The report deviates from pharmaceutical regulatory standards in the United Kingdom. And if it had been published in the United States, where it has been invoked frequently, it would have violated federal law"

Has anyone taken raloxifene (as non-binary feminising HRT), and not subsequently switched to oestradiol (E2)?

The poll's really just in case someone says "yes" but doesn't want to comment. I'm happy to receive answers in the far future. (I'm trying to study endocrinology through the medium of anecdote.)

Quick Sequence of Events

- 2022, MRI finds brain tumor {{okay}}
- 2023, Dr.Neuro "ping me about vision changes or migraines. tumor growth may cause blindness!" {{okay}}
- 2024, Dr.Endo "ping me about vision changes or migraines. tumor growth may…" {{okay}}

Vision changes, yep 🫥
Migraines, yep 🫥

Eye scan shows … OMGOSH what is that? WTF?! 😵‍💫😳

I still need to continue this experiment for a few months in order to confirm the results, but—

I now have evidence that my estrone level is rising and falling in correlation with my period cycle, external to my estradiol injections.

This is the first step of confirmation for my theory that #transfem period cycles are caused by HSD 17b mediation of #estrone and #estradiol. Sadly, I can’t confirm more without actual blood testing.

Just received notice that my trusted #endocrinologist of 7 years is leaving the @inovahealth practice effective 1/12/24 😩

Great bedside manner, very understanding and cerebral, not pushy and flexible on scheduling visits. I’m going to miss that guy.

Any #NoVa #T1D recommendations for a new endo? I basically just need a chill one that will let me manage myself and come to them when I need help & Rx.

4th position, Assistant Professor in #Endocrinology / #Immunology esp. research related to environmental impacts. Review begins 11/1/23. jobs.untsystem.edu/postings/77

jobs.untsystem.eduAssistant Professor - Endocrinology/ ImmunologyThe Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Endocrinology or Immunology with emphasis on studies of basic principles in cellular and molecular endocrinology (hormonal regulation of physiological homeostasis) or immunology (innate or adaptive immunity).  Of particular interest is research related to environmental impacts on immune or hormone systems, and their effects on organismal function.  The successful candidate will use modern research approaches, can employ model systems, and have the skills to work independently as well as in collaborative groups. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain external funding to support a vibrant research program, engage in mentoring undergraduate and graduate research, and effectively teach courses in their area of expertise, which will include endocrinology or immunology, and allied subjects. The faculty member is also expected to participate in relevant regional, national, and international research communities within their disciplines. They will interact with diverse faculty, staff, and students within and between departments, including members from the Advanced Environmental Research Institute (AERI: http://aeri.unt.edu) and the BioDiscovery Institute (BDI: http://bdi.unt.edu), contributing to a strong tradition of interdisciplinary and collaborative research. This position builds on recent hires in neurobiology, invertebrate biology, genomics, and cell biology as well as current searches in computational biochemistry/biology, microbial genomics, and epigenetics.  Additionally, the successful candidate can form collaborations with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the College of Public Health, and the UNT Health Science Center.

Does anyone have any knowledge on "Corticosteroid-binding globulin deficiency"?

It's supposedly a rare genetic disorder which can cause #MyalgicEncephomyelitis #MECFS features.

And I just figured out that I have 2 mutations on the #SERPINA6 gene which codes for it. It's autosomal recessive which means my two parents had one mutation both and I could be symptomatic with the 2 mutations.

But before jumping into conclusions I'd like to talk to people who understand #Genetics #Endocrinology
